Local hire positions

For applicants currently residing within the region. We have two distinct application forms depending on the type of position you’re applying for:

1. Teaching Assistant - Primary Section 

The British International School of Jeddah (BISJ) is seeking a dedicated Teaching Assistant to join our Primary Section. This full-time role is ideal for someone who enjoys working as part of a collaborative team to support students both inside and outside the classroom.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the academic and personal development of Primary Section students.
  • Assist teachers in classroom activities, lesson delivery, and resource preparation.
  • Serve as a positive English-speaking role model and support students with additional language or special needs.
  • Help plan and supervise extracurricular activities, including a minimum of 30 club sessions per year.
  • Assist with classroom preparation, resource management, and the display of children’s work.
  • Promote positive behaviour, student welfare, and a safe, inclusive environment.
  • Collaborate with staff and participate in professional development, meetings, and school events.

Requirements:

  • Fluent English speaker with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience working with children in an educational setting is preferred.
  • Professional, punctual, and committed to fostering a positive and inclusive school environment.
  • Willingness to support extracurricular activities and engage with the wider school community.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and demonstrate initiative when required.

This is a full-time position for a candidate already residing in Jeddah. Please note that sponsorship is not available.

2. Class Teacher - Primary Section 

The British International School of Jeddah (BISJ) is seeking a dedicated Primary Class Teacher to join our vibrant school community in the 2025-26 academic year. This role involves delivering high-quality education across a range of subjects, fostering an engaging learning environment, and actively contributing to the school’s extracurricular programme and community events.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan, prepare and deliver engaging lessons in line with school curriculum guidelines.
  • Assess and monitor student progress, providing constructive feedback.
  • Maintain accurate student records, including assessments, attendance, and behaviour.
  • Establish a supportive and stimulating learning environment that promotes student growth.
  • Engage with parents through reports, meetings and open communication.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues, including Subject Coordinators, Year Group Coordinators, and Teaching Assistants.
  • Participate in wider school activities, including sports days, fairs, charity events and graduation.
  • Lead an Extracurricular Activity Club.
  • Ensure the health, safety, and safeguarding of students in all school activities.

Requirements:

  • A recognised teaching qualification.
  • At least three years of teaching experience, preferably in a primary setting.
  • Strong curriculum planning, assessment, and classroom management skills.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Commitment to student engagement beyond academics through extracurricular activities.

This is a full-time position for a candidate already residing in Jeddah. Please note that sponsorship is not available.

1. Swimming Teacher

The British International School of Jeddah (BISJ) is seeking a passionate Swimming Instructor to support our swimming programme and extracurricular activities in the 2025-26 academic year. This role involves teaching swimming lessons, ensuring pool safety, assisting with competitions, and supporting school-wide swimming events.

The successful candidate will work closely with the Head of Swimming and Swimming Teachers to help students develop water confidence, swimming techniques and safety awareness. This position offers a supportive and collaborative sports and teaching environment, opportunities for training and professional development, and the chance to be part of an engaged and dynamic school community.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in delivering structured swimming lessons following the school’s swimming curriculum.
  • Monitor and enforce pool safety rules, identifying potential risks.
  • Respond to emergencies, performing rescues, CPR, or first aid as required.
  • Support school swimming competitions, meets, and events.
  • Maintain and inspect pool areas and equipment, reporting any concerns.
  • Provide constructive feedback and encouragement to students.
  • Assist in record-keeping of student progress and safety reports.
  • Support a club leader in running extracurricular activities.

Requirements:

  • Relevant certification in swimming instruction and water safety (e.g. Lifeguard, First Aid, CPR).
  • Experience in teaching swimming to students of different ages and abilities.
  • Strong understanding of water safety protocols and risk management.
  • Ability to work effectively with students, teachers and parents.
  • Commitment to professional development and school engagement.
