SFAAD (Students For An Active Difference)

SFAAD (Students for an Active Difference) is run by a dedicated group of secondary students within the BISJ Student Council, focused on organising charity events and food drives throughout the school year. Through their efforts, they aim to instil the values of generosity and community involvement in the wider school population.

The members of SFAAD take the initiative in leading a variety of community projects, including food collections during Ramadan, creating gift boxes for those in need, and arranging sports events and dinners for the AAZ Facilities Team [explain?].
These activities not only offer essential support to others but also encourage a spirit of empathy, teamwork, and social responsibility within the school.

By taking an active role in these projects, SFAAD students develop important skills in leadership, collaboration, and the real-world impact of contributing to charitable causes. They learn that even small acts of kindness can make a significant difference, and that by working together, they can create lasting positive change.

SFAAD goes beyond simply organising events; it is about fostering a sense of responsibility and encouraging students to engage with their community. The group aims to inspire students to become proactive, compassionate leaders who are committed to making a positive contribution to both their local and global communities.

Sustainability

At BISJ, we are deeply committed to making a positive impact on the environment. Sustainability is a top priority, and we are proud to have recently joined forces with TASS, The Alliance for Sustainable Schools, to strengthen our efforts in creating a more sustainable future.

As part of our commitment, we have launched composting schemes to reduce waste and promote environmentally friendly practices within our school community. Additionally, our uniforms are made from sustainable materials that are responsibly sourced, aligning with our focus on reducing our environmental footprint.

We are also reviewing and improving our cafeteria practices to ensure that the food we serve is sourced sustainably and prepared with consideration for both the environment and the health of our students. Through these ongoing initiatives, BISJ continues to lead the way in fostering a more sustainable, eco-conscious school community.
