We are excited to share that The British International School of Jeddah (BISJ) is now one of the first five founding members from Saudi Arabia of the Alliance for Sustainable Schools (TASS), a global network dedicated to accelerating the transition towards a more sustainable future.

As part of this important partnership, BISJ has signed the Sustainable Schools Charter, reaffirming our commitment to environmental stewardship and global collaboration. Through TASS, we will have access to an international network of sustainability practitioners, while BISJ students will play a key role as TASS Student Ambassadors, engaging in transformative sustainability initiatives.

“This partnership is a step towards a greener, more sustainable future,” said Ian Williams, BISJ School Director. “We’re thrilled to be part of this global movement and excited to collaborate with like-minded schools to make a meaningful impact.”

BISJ students, like Jasmijn Giorgia Van Beers and Thasfeeha Abdul Aleem, are already embracing the opportunity to lead by example as TASS Student Ambassadors.

Jasmijn Giorgia Van Beers said:

"Sustainability in schools matters to me as having sustainable practices in schools sets an example for students, creating a climate to foster an environmentally conscious generation. Having grown up in a multitude of countries, I have had the ability to see how unsustainable practices such as single-use plastic, as well as climate change, have had effects all over the globe. Being a TASS Student Ambassador, therefore, excites me, as it gives me a platform to help raise awareness, as well as undertake action to create a greener future for the world.”

Thasfeeha Abdul Aleem said:

“As students, we are the future, and our actions today shape the world of tomorrow. It’s easy to underestimate the power of one person, but being part of a passionate, sustainability-driven community has taught me that even small efforts can spark real change. I’ve been involved with the Green Team since childhood, where I developed a deep love and respect for the environment and a strong commitment to protecting it. The world gives us so much, and caring for it is the least we can do in return. I’m thrilled to continue making a meaningful impact and to collaborate with inspiring, like-minded changemakers as a TASS Student Ambassador.”

We are proud to be part of a global network committed to sustainability and look forward to seeing our students lead the way in creating a positive, lasting impact on the world.

Together, we can make a difference!
