Kapes visits Togo to support girls’ education
Kapes, the uniform provider for The British International School of Jeddah (BISJ), travelled to Togo to inspect the factories producing our uniforms and to meet with the communities impacted. The school is providing these uniforms free of charge to students in need across 12 partner schools.

Our focus this year is on girls’ education, because the ripple effect is significant:
- A child born to a mother who can read is 50% more likely to survive past age five. (UNESCO)
- Each additional year of schooling increases a woman’s earnings by up to 20%. (UNESCO)
- Every year of secondary education reduces a girl’s risk of child marriage by 5% or more. (World Bank)
- When women control finances, their children grow 2–3 in (5–7.5 cm) taller. (Half the Sky)
These are the reasons we’re focusing our impact on girls in Togo, where uniforms remove one key barrier to staying in school. It’s a unique opportunity to see firsthand how BISJ’s partnership is creating real change — not just for students, but for women and their wider communities.
We’re proud to share that the BISJ parent community donated 1 400 uniforms to support this initiative.
