Business Studies Curriculum Overview

Our Business Studies programme is designed to develop students’ understanding of how businesses operate in both local and global contexts. From foundational principles in Years 10 and 11 through to advanced strategic analysis in Years 12 and 13, students are encouraged to think critically, act ethically, and engage practically with real-world business issues. The progression from IGCSE to IB ensures a coherent and comprehensive learning journey that prepares students for academic success and future careers in business, entrepreneurship, and related fields.

IGCSE Business Studies – Years 10-11

The IGCSE Business Studies course introduces students to the world of business and entrepreneurship.

It covers fundamental concepts such as business operations, marketing, finance, human resource management, and the influence of external factors on business decision-making.

The curriculum is designed to provide a balance of theoretical knowledge and practical application. Lessons are dynamic and interactive, involving case studies, group projects, and role-playing activities that simulate real-world business scenarios. This hands-on approach ensures students not only understand business principles but also develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills that prepare them for further studies and future careers.

IB Business Management Diploma – Years 12-13

The IB Business Management course equips students with the knowledge and skills needed to analyse and solve complex business challenges in a global context.

The curriculum encompasses topics such as business strategy, organisational structure, finance, marketing, operations, and human resources.

To enhance students' critical understanding, Theory of Knowledge (ToK) is embedded throughout the course. For example, students explore the ethical implications of business decisions, cultural influences on management practices, and the limitations of business models in various contexts.

The teaching approach is inquiry-based and collaborative, using real-world case studies, debates, and group projects to encourage deep engagement and practical understanding. This approach fosters critical analysis, creativity, and ethical reasoning, essential for success in higher education and the workplace.
